The Battle of the Books is a district-wide competition in Birdville ISD.
The primary goal of the program is to promote reading in a wide variety of genres, diverse literature, and multiple narrative styles that introduce students to numerous authors.
The Battle of the Books program strives to foster academic competition, encourage students to collaborate as a team, enhance reading comprehension levels and critical thinking, and create a recognized list of exemplary titles for elementary students.
The program is voluntary. Those students wishing to participate are asked to read the books selected for their respective grade levels and qualify for their individual campus teams. District-wide competition will be held in March.
