All public two and four year colleges in Texas require this assessment in order to enroll in classes. Some students are exempt from the TSI based on scores obtained on the EOC, SAT or ACT. If you are not exempt, you can take the test free of charge through College Access. For more information about this test you may visit .
TEXAS COLLEGE APPLICATIONAll four-year state universities and colleges are using the common application for Texas. You can go to the web site at . This web site has links to all the Texas public universities. Be sure to go to "Frequently Asked Questions" and you'll find out a tremendous amount of information. The code book that is needed for completing the application is also available on-line.TRANSCRIPTSEach college to which a student applies will require an official high school transcript.Seniors 2023:
- You get three free official transcripts.
- After that, you must pay $3 for each transcript until 8/31/2023. After that, each transcript will cost $5.
- Please pay close attention to the graduation year you select. If you choose anything other than 2023, you will be charged $5.
Our recommendation is that you DO NOT request an official copy be sent to yourself as this counts as one of your three free ones. Instead, you can access your unofficial transcript in Skyward under the Student Performance tab.
You will need:
1) Your full legal name
2) An email address that you check and that is NOT your Birdville ISD email address.
3) ID # -- This will be your lunch number
NCAA CLEARING HOUSECollege-bound student athletes are required to register with the NCAA Clearinghouse. It is strongly suggested that you register online. Go to . From the home page, click on "Prospective Student-Athletes" . Check with your counselor to see if you are eligible for a fee waiver. SAT or ACT scores must be sent directly to the NCAA by using college code 9999. Students are also now required to fill out the amateurism questionnaire when filling out the other information.FREE APPLICATION FOR FEDERAL STUDENT AID (FAFSA)After January 1 of a student's senior year, the student and parent should fill out the FAFSA at . Colleges and universities use the FAFSA to determine if a student is eligible for grants, work study, and loans. To fill out the FAFSA student and parents will need to have their previous year income tax return finished or at least estimated. Both student and parent will need to have a FAFSA pin number to submit the FAFSA on-line. You may get your pin number by visiting .- Deadlines do matter. The earlier you submit your forms, the more likely you are to get a good financial aid package.
- The financial aid office at the college you are applying are responsible for awarding you a financial aid package.
Types of financial aid available- Grants - Money you do not have to pay back
- Loans - Money borrowed that must be paid back
- Work Study - Money earned from work used to help pay for school
- Scholarships - Available from many sources

The Texas Legislature established the TEXAS (Towards Excellence, Access and Success) Grant to make sure that deserving high school graduates with financial need could go to college.
The TEXAS Grant, in combination with other aid, pays tuition and fees at the state's public colleges and universities.TILF (Texas Interscholastic League Foundation)This foundation provides grants to students who compete at the UIL Academic State Meet. Scholarship values range from $2,000 - $14,000. To be considered, each applicant must meet the following:- Must have competed on the state level of competition
- Must rank high scholastically, at least in top 25%
- Must begin college the same year of high school graduation
- Must attend an accredited college or university in Texas, enroll for and pass a minimum of 12 hours per semester, and maintain a 2.5 GPA
